Work Environment Assessments

The Bi-State Nursing Workforce Innovation Center selected three healthcare sites within the region to conduct a work environment assessment with staff nurses. We used the Individual Workload Perception Scale-Revised (IWPS-R) survey that measures aspects of organizational support, satisfaction, workload and intent to stay with the organization. Once the surveys were completed, a customized report was prepared for the leadership of the organization. Recommendations for targeted areas of improvement were provided, as well as funding to support these improvements. The overall goal of this program was to measurably improve the work environment of staff nurses in order to increase retention and satisfaction.
